"The Coca-Cola Beatbox" by Pernilla Ohrstedt and Asif Khan

The London based designers with long-time Olympic sponsors Coca-Cola designed a pavilion, piece of artwork which is also a musical instrument for its visitors. The spectacular Olympic Park pavilion can inspire visitors to Move to the Beat of London 2012. They can “play” and remix an Olympic soundtrack, created by Mark Ronson via sounds embedded in the building. The starting point of the project called “The Coca-Cola Beatbox” is the soft drinks company “Move to the Beat” campaign intended to inspire British youth and to connect them with the Olympic Games, to provoke their passion for music and sport.

The genius designed the Coca-Cola Pavilion are Pernilla Ohrstedt and Asif Khan. Swedish and British designers designed the Beatbox in white and red from 230 individual components, that makes complex, self-supporting structure. The giant crystalline structre is made from interlocked translucent air cushions with the size of billboard. In each cushion is groundbreaking audio, lighting and responsive sensor technology, used to upload the sport sound into the pavilion.

The visitors walk in small groups and the guide tells them a story of what sound it is and what panel they must touch. The sound can be of breathing, an archery bow or squeaky running shoes. When touched the sounds can be trigged and remixed by gestures and movements of the visitors. The magic of light of the cushions show us that has been designed to simulate the energy released when a bottle of Coca-Cola is opened served and shared. The 180 pannels glow rhythmically with Mark Ronson`s track. Controlled with individual code, each panel has eight polypropylene blades that fold in on themselves.

Anti Crise Chair by Pedro Gomes

This chair provides peace of mind, because you can spend money in it and you feel relaxed. The Anti Crise Chair offers a sense of relaxation for your body and your mind. The chair change the usual way of saving and becomes part of everyday life and interior. We can save money in more playful and interactive way. The process is designed in 3 steps. The first is saving money, but here the traditional money “pig” is reinterpreted. Pedro Gomes chair have small opening on the top of the backrest, there you can put your coins and spare them for emergency use only. The seat and the back support of the chair are one hollow component offering a place for your savings.

The second step is to reach emergency equipment to be able to reach the limited access to the saved money.
If the time is bad and you reach your economic breaking point you can use your savings. Here the usual gesture of breaking the money pot is replaced. You must smash the glass on the rear of the backrest of your Anti Crise Chair. There you will find small handsaw which you need to use to cut the front end of the seat and to take all your earnings. The third step is reaching your savings by breaking the money pot. In this case the act is more personal and labored, because you must cut the seat using a handsaw.
But do not worry, the chair can still be used. You can use the hole there to store magazines or books that you read. The Anti Crise Chair still remains an attractive and multifunctional.
