Bloom Lamp by Patrick Jouin

I am not too much of a lamp freak but this Bloom Lamp design from designer Patrick Jouin has got me interested. The reason which makes this lamp special is the ‘fact’ that it draws inspiration from- the blossoming of a flower from the bud stage. The designer has been able to replicate the phenomenon perfectly and hence the Blossom christening suites it perfectly too.As soon as you turn on the Bloom Lamp, it opens its petals to emit light and the moment the power is cut, the petals get folded again. Beautiful, isn't it?

It’s a very interesting concept. This is another example of how you can include nature-inspired items in your home. A lot of people love nature and don’t get to spend much time admiring it. So they are constantly trying to incorporate nature-inspired elements in their home decor.

They usually choose plants because they the easiest to replicate.This lamp is very beautiful. And the most interesting features is the fact that it has a flower-like shape and the petals open when the light is turned on allowing you to admire its entire beauty. And when you turn off the light, the petals fold again and the lamp goes to sleep. It’s a very interesting idea and the result is successful. Also, the black and white combination is always a good choice.

Kuat Bicycle Bottle Lock

Kuat’s new lock fits in your bottle cage — so you’re never put out by how to lug a lock for your commute. Which for me has always been the hangup; wrapping a chain lock across my torso, messenger style, is rad looking, and pseudo menacing even…and does really bad things to my lumbar. But this bad boy incorporates five feet of 8mm coated cable (so it won’t scar your bike’s paint) that coils back inside the “bottle” shape. A small, threaded enclosure at the bottom is large enough to hold the Bottle Lock’s keys, too.

While the cylinder-style keyed lock is probably pretty hard to pick, the cable isn't the most stout setup on earth. Anyone with modestly powerful bolt cutters could snap this lock in a heartbeat. So, being a belt-and-suspenders type, I’ve upped the Bottle Lock’s security level from about a 6 to an 8 with a simple kludge: I throw a $6 hardware store padlock into that storage compartment at the base of the Kuat.

Then, after I string the cable lock around my bike (always being sure to remove the front wheel and tugging the cable through the frame and both front- and rear wheels), I take an extra 30 seconds to remove my seat post  I thread the post through the wheels, and lock the padlock onto one of the saddle rails and to a spoke.

This setup looks like a total nightmare for any would-be thief, because he has to cut the Bottle Lock’s cable and also bust a spoke, making that wheel rub, which would slow his getaway. Remember, you don’t need the biggest, baddest security system, you just need one that’s more annoying than average. That’s the aim, and the Bottle Lock, with a padlock, nails that target.

I-Green by Meng Fandi

Again, there's no end to creation and innovation of its initiator Technology Go Green. Green Technology seems to be the trend today, many new breakthroughs to Creating a Green Earth's atmosphere, previously we had Knowing ENVY, The Trash is a very Unique and Multifunctional as Pot.
Next is the I-Green concept devices that can utilize the kinetic energy of motion of the tires on your bike while you're busy paddling to work. Surprisingly, this design is slightly different from most of the kinetic energy harvesters out there, the design of I-Green offers a small propeller and not disturb your trip when you're busy riding bikes, blades that keep turning the wheels of your bike will be Amended Electricity turbines. Stored energy can be used for your electronic devices such as i Pod  HP, and portable devices other in a very green method.

Designer China, Meng Fandi who has created the i-Green, you can attach the charger to your bike and use to fill the portable device. He uses the kinetic energy of motion of a bicycle wheel and turn it into electricity, giving your cell phone or mp3 player die when you push the pedal on the road. There are several bicycle-powered charger on the market, but they use a hub dynamo to charge your portable devices.

Helio pressure shower

If you are an enthusiastic camper or hiker who spends days together trekking, then you know of the usual problems faced by most outdoor buffs. After a few days of enjoying the natural view, you start to crave the spray of a bursting shower. Nemo equipment, a company that manufactures tents and camping gear, has crafted the Helio shower to help you out with daily ablutions.The design is quite a breakthrough because it is the right combination of portability and utility. Most showers available currently are either cumbersome to use or are way too heavy and can be hauled around only by car. But this dry bag system is essentially like a carry case. It consists of a water holder, 7 foot long shower hose and a foot pump. Measuring 5.5 and 8 inches along the sides, you can easily carry the shower around when you go out camping.

The piece is really lightweight. Also, the thoughtful design churns out hot water for bathing and depends on the sun as a source of heat. The sprinkle from this shower lasts for anywhere between 5 to 7 minutes. Refill the holder again and the shower will be ready for use the next time around. It has the capacity of 11 liters and weighs around 2 lbs.

The sprinkle comes out strong, thanks to the manual pressure system. The Nemoid foot pump squirts out a generous and even pressured fountain of water. You just have to stamp at the pump a few times while you are showering. Thus, it is really easy to use. The spray feels just right and can also be used for washing dishes or scouring your camping gear.

Kinetic Energy concept - Wilma van Boxtel

Trust me folks when I say it, but it takes hell of a lot to make me quit my most prized asset- Laziness. I suppose most of us are the same way. Unless we are pushed to work we most often sit back and do absolutely nothing. The simple theory is that all of us do things only because of two reason- Pleasure and Pressure. If there is no pleasure in your job, then there has to be a deadline. If both are absent, then you do nothing. But now we give you a new reason to get up and do work and it is simple to make sure your mobile or iPod do not run out of charge!

It really is frustrating when that tiny little gadget displays ‘Low Battery’ and then goes off in to darkness. Now you can charge it up whenever you want by either shaking a leg or two or by just making sure you are moving around even just meaninglessly. Kinetic Energy is a device to store energy by just moving; doing sports, exercise, dance or just walking. My husband has a kinetic watch which doesn’t consume batteries but works because of the movements of his arm. Designed by Wilma van Boxtel of Australia, the device is perfect for someone like me who almost never stops walking around my living room or on my terrace when on phone.

Designed as a very simple ankle band, which you can also wear it around your arms if that’s were you move more, it stores the energy by your movements through this kinetic device. When necessary you plug your mobile or whatever gadget into the connector (you probably need an adapter because all brands are having a different connector) and upload your gadget. For my mobile, I surely will need an adapter too by the look of things. I really need something like this. I always am too lazy to get up to plug in the mobile for charging before going to bed. By the evening, I almost always run out of charge. The gadget is akin to the Kinetic Energy- MP3 Player that we featured a few days ago. Such gadgets are a great help to both us lazy guys and also the planet!

Cyclus Step2 by Satoshi Yanagisawa

Dwindling cellphone battery can leave anybody tensed. But, the real trouble seeps in when there is no charging source around. Satoshi Yanagisawa has crafted a vase-shaped device, which is a spring driven portable power generator to juice up your gadgets. Christened Cyclus Step2, this sustainable product can recharge a variety of digital gadgets with a universal port.

Users can couple their gadgets with a USB connector, which is present on the top of Cyclus. It has a twisting bottom, which when fully winded, generates energy for a good 15 minutes. The setup comes fitted with an induction dynamo that is reliable, easy to construct and cost-effective. This dynamo swaps energy from the spring into electric energy. The spring used has been crafted from steel, which is quite hard-wearing. It further gives birth to mechanical energy, which has been used in an ingenious manner.

All the components of the curvy power generator are wedged on a central shaft. This cuts down on the number of parts required, while making the production and assembly hassle-free. The unidirectional construction makes recycling, re-manufacturing, reconditioning and repairing the product unproblematic. Cyclus Step2 has been given dainty looks that are quite attention-grabbing. Cyclus by Satoshi Yanagisawa

Any sort of energy issues in reducing carbon emission have been addressed as critical factor if further sustainable development.

In fact large number of institutions, developers and Eco conscious practitioners have been trying to find a solution in this particular issue at least these couple of decades. However this future conscious ethos has not emerged as sustainable as we might like to think at the moment. Obviously there is various reason, but I believe that ‘User Awareness’ should be integrated into the most fundamental catalyst for further sustainable development which has especially emerged within everyday circumstance. In addition we designer should design own representation for incremental change, to allow for the next paradigm shift for the green conscious society.

Cyclus has been designed a spring driven personal electricity generator. This hand held device also has huge potential to adopt multiple user context by single discipline. Basically, twisting bottom component for the next 30 minutes, inner located spring will constantly generate rotation energy. That is enough to drive DC motor (upper located) to produce certain amount of energy (6.6V 3W).

This product also has good potential in developing community, as they have increasing energy needs for lighting and telecommunication, and I believe it will have an advantage due to the simple construction which will make it durable and cost effective.
