Johnnie Walker Adds John Walker & Sons Odyssey To Its US Portfolio

Diageo owned Johnnie Walker has introduced a new super blend to their existing US portfolio named John Walker & Sons Odyssey Blended Scotch Whisky. Previously available in Asia and selected global markets, the blend is a mix crafted from three rare handpicked single malts to create the first triple malt Scotch whisky from the House of Walker.

The unique blend uses the following whiskies The John Walker, Johnnie Walker XR 21 and King George V Blended Scotch Whiskies. The blend is a creation of Master Blender Jim Beveridge using founder Sir Alexander Walker’s hand-written notes. Its taste profile consists of flavors fresh citrus, smooth honey and creamy caramel. Blended and married in European oak casks to combine the flavors, the blend offers an extensive experience with exceptional smoothness.

Master Blender Jim Beveridge said he searched many distilleries in Scotland for the perfect three whiskies for John Walker & Sons Odyssey. “The extraordinary single malts I’ve chosen have the right provenance and pedigree to create the aromas, tastes, flavors and sensations that Sir Alexander was looking for when he created the original blend almost 80 years ago,” he added.

The John Walker & Sons Odyssey comes in a crystal glass decanter bottle interpreted from their legendary 1932 “nautical” decanter created for Johnnie Walker Swing Blended Scotch Whisky. The bottle can rotate 360 degrees within the box and always rests in an upright position. It’s inspired by a gyroscope, as the bottle always remains steady while the world revolves around it.

The House of Walker recommends that the blend be enjoyed neat or with a dash of water. John Walker & Sons Odyssey is now available nationwide with a suggested retail price of $1,100 (750ml).

Dewar’s Legacy Collection 1893 Launched At Delhi International Airport

World famous whisky maker Dewar’s has launched their special edition Legacy Collection in India. The Dewar’s Legacy Collection 1893 is now available at the Delhi International Airport duty free shop Delhi Duty Free Services located at Terminal 3. The Legacy Collection 1893 is the first of three outstanding whiskies to release from the collection. The 1893 edition commemorate the 120th year of John Dewar & Sons receiving the first Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria.

A blend of 20 exceptional malt and grain whiskies, they all have sourced from rare and long-aged casks from Aberfeldy and Royal Brackla distilleries. The double-aged whiskies have been aged in the same casks for an additional year allowing it to evolve, mellow and harmonize into its final smooth blend. In the final preparation, blend is being mixed with rare Royal Brackla single malt to make the 1893 edition.
The blend is presented in an exquisitely designed and decorated hand-blown crystal decanter with silverware made with exquisite details in 22 karat gold highlights. The inspiration for the decanter design and decorative art was drawn from the Scottish ceremonial dagger, dirk. Other decanter details feature the traditional thistle with nine sapphires, inspired by the Stuart Sapphire which was also the centerpiece in Queen Victoria’s State Crown. The custom made burr walnut and gold metal box of the decanter displays some of the many prestigious awards won by Dewar’s.
The next 2 editions of The Legacy Collection, the 1899 celebrating the double-ageing techniques of Dewar’s blends and the 1902 celebrating  Tommy Dewar’s knighthood, will also be released in limited editions of 1,000 bottles each.

The 1,000 individually numbered bottles of The Legacy Collection 1893 was released with a price tag of $3,888.

Louis Vuitton Unveils The Escale Worldtime At Baselworld, Yours For $67k

Louis Vuitton is serious about making complicated timepieces, this is the only reason they acqui-hired La Fabrique du Temps manufacture in 2011. It didn’t take that long for the company to bear fruits of that purchase, as last year they introduced the Tambour Twin Chrono. Yesterday at Baselworld they unveiled their newest complication, The Escale Worldtime.
As with other Louis Vuitton products, it would be an anomaly if no mention is made of their famous trunk along with a travel related product. The Escale Worldtime features a vintage Louis Vuitton trunk monogram inspired hand-painted multi-colored dial. Dial is made up of four rings, two each for cities and times. Each dial takes 50 hours of craftsmen’s time to hand-paint and fix rings. In all 38 are colors used on the dial. Louis Vuitton logo and the yellow arrow are applied to the bottom of the sapphire crystal and they hangs over the dial rings.

Most notable feature is you can read time for 24 time zones just by glancing at the dial. The yellow arrow at 12 o’clock is always pointed to local time. By using the crown, user can rotate city plates to line up home city to the yellow arrow, then set local time by using hour and minute plates located in the center. Other time zones then automatically aligns to their local times.

Encased inside the 41mm white gold case is in-house built new caliber LV 106 automatic movement. It provides 38 hours of power reserve. Details of the beautifully designed case include its slim lugs, a feature borrowed from the brackets of Louis Vuitton trunks. Though the movement workings are not fully visible from the case-back, rotor spinning is visible.

Luxury is not cheap especially if they are from LVMH, the Escale Worldtime is available at Louis Vuitton with a price tag of $67,500.

Google Partners with Luxottica to Make Glass More Stylish

Ray-Ban sunglasses maker Luxottica said on Monday it had sealed a strategic partnership with Google over Glass that could pave the way for a new market in smart glasses. In a statement, Italy’s Luxottica said it would design, develop and distribute a new kind of eyewear for the US group’s Internet-connected Glass eyewear.

Google Glass is a small stamp-sized screen attached to a pair of eyeglass frames. It can record video, access email, and retrieve information from the Web by connecting wirelessly to a user’s cell phone. Luxottica said the two groups would work together to create innovative wearable devices for the iconic Glass brand. No financial terms were disclosed.

Luxottica said its two major brands, Ray-Ban and Oakley, would be part of the deal with Glass but it gave no further details. ”We believe that a strategic partnership with a leading player like Google is the ideal platform for developing a new way forward in our industry and answering the evolving needs of consumers on a global scale,” Luxottica Chief Executive Officer Andrea Guerra said.

Many believe wearable computers such as Google Glass represent the next big shift in technology, just as smartphones evolved from personal computers. But some concern has been expressed over possible privacy intrusion issues the device might entail.
