Another good news for the selfie fanatics. Casio newest digital imager, the Casio EXILIM EX-FR10 Freestyle Digital Camera, is here to further fuel the unstoppable selfie phenomena and it does not involves swiveling camera lens. Casio has taken the selfie shoot to a whole new level by enabling the EX-FR10 to be split up into two modules: the main camera unit with the lens, sensor and all the working needed for imaging, and a LCD-equipped controller. the two can work as one as a regular camera, but at a press of a button, both modules can be split apart and maintains communication viaBluetooth LE, thus allowing you to place the camera unit at a suitable position or simply holding it and trigger the shutter button for a selfie or group shot.
It also has a more conventional way of taking selfie too. With both modules docked together, you can simply flip the camera lens and the LCD to the same direction and capture the image like you have always done. Finally, it can also be use like a traditional camera with the LCD facing you and the lens towards the subject. Though not explicitly refer to as a ruggedized imaging device, the camera is dust-proof, splash-proof and can withstand a drop of up two meters high. The toughen feature could come in handy as you never know what will happen during a selfie shoot. Additionally, it comes standard with an assortment of accessories to widen its use in a myriad of situations, including using it as an action cam or even as a life-logging device when worn over the neck with a neck strap.
The EXILIM EX-FR10 also boasts built-in WiFi for connecting to your smartphone or tablet to enable instant sharing of your photos. Under the hood, it has a 14MP 1/2.3-inch BSI CMOS sensor, capable of Full HD video recording, albeit limited to 4GB per file and it has SD card for storage to supplement its meager onboard 65.9MB flash storage (which you probably won’t use anyway).
The specs looks decent, not mind-blowing and so we are obliged to classify this as a novelty camera that’s geared towards selfie enthusiasts. the Casio EXILIM EX-FR10 Freestyle Digital Camera is set to go on sale starting sometime in September for 50,000 Yen (around US$480) and it is destined to hit Singapore retailers for 699 Singapore Dollars. So selfie nuts, so take note.
