Arnold & Son Double Tourbillon Escapement Dual Time

The Arnold & Son Double Tourbillon Escapement Dual Time is a new GMT watch that will launch at Baselworld a few weeks from now. Unlike your typical dual time watch, this has completely separate time zone displays. Meaning, the local time and second time zone have their own gear train and tourbillon escapement, allowing the wearer to set hours and minutes independent of one another. This is a true dual time watch.

The DTE comes in a 43.5 mm diameter polished 18K red gold case. The dial is protected by a cambered sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. A transparent caseback allows a view into the manually wound A&S8513 caliber. The main plate and bridges are made of nickel-silver, treated with a rhodium finish and then decorated by hand. Hand-chamfered bridges and polished edges, fine circular graining and Côtes de Genève rayonnantes, plate dial side with Côtes de Genève, circular satin-finished wheels withhand-chamfered and polished edges, blued screws with bevelled and mirror-polished heads.

The dual tourbillons have 18K red gold bridges, with satin-finished and mirror-polished surfaces with hand-chamfered and polished edges. Hand-chamfered and mirror-polished tourbillon cages.
The in-house manufactured movement beats at 3Hz, has 42 jewels and boasts double mainspring barrels for a maximum 90-hour power reserve.
The dual time dials are domed and have a white lacquer finish with blued skeleton hour and minute hands. At 12 o’clock the hours are marked by transferred Roman numerals, and at 6 o’clock the hours are marked by transferred Arabic numerals. In between the time displays are 18K red gold bridges which support the tourbillons. Sitting behind these double lacquered dials and double tourbillon escapements is a plate that has been decorated with vertical Côtes de Genève stripes.

There are two crowns, one for setting the local and the home time, located at 2 o’clock and 8 o’clock. Both mainsprings are wound using the crown at 2 o’clock. The DTE comes on a hand-stitched brown or black alligator leather strap with matching 18K red gold buckle. Limited to 28 pieces.

Shade That Glare – Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2014 Sunglasses Collection

Striking shapes and subtle signatures are the watchwords of Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2014 sunglasses collection. Alongside timeless dark tortoise, which features strongly this season, dazzling colours – fuchsia and violet for women, and brilliant shades of blue for men – are sure to catch the eye of stylish sun-seekers.

Sunglasses for her

For women, the glamour and femininity associated with Louis Vuitton find expression in sophisticated cat’s-eye shapes, notably an oversize design combining an acetate frame in fuchsia, violet, petrol blue or brown with a distinctive curved corner detail and arms in metal.

Another cat’s-eye style has slender temples sheathed in Monogram canvas, complemented in the dark tortoise version by stunning mirrored lenses. This design also boasts innovative rotating hinges, enabling it to be folded completely flat – perfect for summer’s oh-so-stylish but non-too-spacious clutches! Retro shapes emerge as a key trend of Spring/Summer 2014.

Louis Vuitton updates a simple, classic design in dark tortoise or pearl glitter acetate, embellishing it with a delicate row of metal Monogram flowers, which are set by hand into the temples. Finally, the season’s edgiest look is offered by a bold, angular frame in two- tone acetate, anchored by broad tortoise temples.

Sunglasses for him

For men, two vintage-inspired shapes are given a modern twist by a graphic play on the historic Damier signature: alternate metal and acetate cubes are assembled one by one to create a 3D effect on the temples.

A third style, in beige, navy or eye-popping cyan blue, sports an engraved Damier pattern and flash mirrored lenses. Combining style with comfort, all three designs feature flex hinges and ultra-lightweight acetate frames.

Nendo Makes One Of A Kind Starbucks Mugs For Japan

Nendo has created a simple intervention for the classic white Starbucks’s coffee mug that represents the global coffee company’s view of feeling ‘fulfilled, and seeing the glass as half-full, never half-empty’.

Graphics of either a Starbucks’s Americano, latte or caramel Macchiato can be found at the base of the cups so that when they are drying or are stored upside down in your cupboard, they appear to look as if they are actually full – a visual reminder to always have a positive mental attitude. The mug collection is being sold at Starbucks japan shops starting March 19th, 2014.
