A Whiskey Glass That Combines The Best Aspects Of The Snifter And Tumbler In One

When it comes to drinking whiskey in style, there are two common types of glassware: the narrow Glencairn snifter, designed for pushing aromas up toward the nose, and the tumbler, which feels more natural to hold. This leaves whiskey snobs with a choice—you can either enjoy your whiskey nose-down, with a snifter that picks up the complexities of your drink, or you can enjoy it socially, with the more casual tumbler in hand.

Brian Fichtner and Shane Bahng, the co-founders behind the recently launched Norlan Glass, don't think you should have to choose. Their whiskey glass, now raising funds on Kickstarter, incorporates the aerating aspects of the snifter with the functionality of the tumbler to create one handsome, double-walled whiskey glass.

For the design the glass, Fichtner and Bahng brought in Icelandic designer Sruli Recht, with whom they had previously worked on a foldable laptop stand they kickstarted last year. Recht, inspired by the way that waves crash onto the beach, designed the inside of the glass to be wide enough for the whiskey to splash up against the sides and aerate faster. He worked with a synthetic biologist to design fins inside the glass that bring up different molecules that give the whiskey a fuller flavor. The outer wall gives the glass a fuller shape and heaviness so it sits nicely in your hand.

You don't have to be a whiskey aficionado to appreciate the level of thought and detail that went in to this design. And at a $45 retail price for a pair ($35 for early bird pledgers), the Norlan Whiskey Glass is pretty affordable as far as whiskey glasses go. (They typically run anywhere from $45-$100).

Dolce & Gabbana’s Couture Headphones With Swarovski Crystals And Pearls

Dolce & Gabbana has made the swankiest earbuds to date in collaboration with Frends; and they can be yours for the staggering price of $7,000 (approx. £4,600).

The fashion house’s recent autumn/winter 2015 show during Milan Fashion Week was inspired by the Italian matriarch, otherwise known as la mamma, celebrating Mother’s Day a bit earlier this year. But not only that, it also celebrated the pleasure of listening to music by taking it to the next level.

The headphones worn by the models are made of leather and are fully covered in the brand’s signature jewellery, embellished with materials like pearls, gold chains, Swarovski crystals and velvet across the earpieces and bridge.

Definitely not your average pair of headphones.
They were initially thought to be catwalk collaboration only, but tech brand Frends has confirmed that two of the original catwalk versions have officially landed on American online retailer Moda Operandi and are ready to pre-order for expected delivery between July and October.

Retailed at $7,095 (approx. £4,700) these are about 35 times more expensive than Frend’s popular Taylor style, which is currently priced at around £150.
These are also much more that what you'd pay for a D&G handbag, with some of its most luxurious designs priced at around £1,000.

The two headphone designs available to buy for that staggering price are a bejewelled red-leather style and a green-leather version.

Since Frends was founded in 2006 by a young group of pro snowboarders it quickly made its minimalist designs a favourite in the fashion world. But by collaborating with the king of bling and superfancy, it has taken its fashion forward spirit to a whole new level.
However, this is not the first time luxe headphones have gone from the catwalk to the shopping bag. Last season Chanel's autumn/winter 2014 show also introduced quilted headphones in partnership with tech company Monster. They were sold for $5,000 in the US and reportedly for £4,170 in the UK.

Still, Dolce & Gabbana’s headphones take the prize.  Although unconfirmed, these might be the world’s most expensive earbuds - and the most blinged out ones too.

The Light Clock Tells The Time With 120 Leds

Don’t worry. The Light Clock does not rely on the sun to tell time. In fact, it is the opposite. It has no hands, no dial or whatsoever. Instead, it uses 120 individual LEDs, each with the ability to display over 16 million colors, to shed light on the time, like literally.

This is how it works: to create the essential hour and minute hands, The Light Clock projects two different colors of light. You have the call in deciding what color goes to the hour and minute. The lights emitted form two segments on the clock’s circumference and on the wall, thus allowing you to tell the time.

Blending is the key to how you tell where the hands actually landed. It won’t be easy initially, but as you keep reading it, you will be able tell the time right away. It is not much different from traditional clocks with hands; just that the hands here are replaced by lights.

The Light Clock is WiFi-enabled too, allowing it to be connect to an existing WiFi network to facilitate customization on a web app, accessible with virtually any device. Being connected to the Internet also ensure The Light Clock to maintain an accurate time, all the time. The web app is where you can customize the color, save your favorite color scheme, select the blending, set time zone, set seconds hand, adjust the brightness et cetera.

Through the web app, you can also set the desire duration for the night mode. In Night Mode, all but a few LEDs will be turned on to provide a soft, ambient glow that’s not intrusive, while still enable you to read the time. It looks like no time will be a dull time, eh? The Light Clock literally adds color to your time. Since time has to tick anyways, why not make it a more beautiful experience?

The Light Clock is yet to be a reality; it is now on Kickstarter looking to raise 30,000 Australia dollars to take it to production. You can help by backing the campaign, but be warned, it doesn’t come cheap.

Wash Away The Dark Side With Star Wars Shower Heads

The upcoming Star Wars is really a huge deal to Disney. How do you tell besides the obvious? PuraKai Clothing Wants To Clean Up The Ocean By Selling T-Shirts Made Of Beer Bottles

Beer lovers, you owe it to the world to wear the Beer Bottle Shirt. But don’t worry. It won’t make you look like a walking beer bottle. In fact, you won’t even know that the handsome tee on your back is actually made from used plastic beer bottles. What?! They can do that? Well, apparently, startup PuraKai Clothing just did. Collaborating with Patrick Mills in North Carolina,

Beer Bottle Shirt is made from Patrick Mills’s Earth Spun Yarn, a material born out of recycled plastic beer bottles and if you ask me, it sure makes a lot of sense to me. Why? Each year, over 50 billion plastic bottles are used in the US and only 31 percent of the lot gets recycled. This means landfills and even oceans, gets 69 percent of the ‘waste’. Now, that’s not exactly a good thing.

While recycling effort so far is a good, it just isn’t enough and asking people to use less plastic is simply not a practical approach (actually, more like impossible). PuraKai decided that it is high time to do something to improve the situation. That said, the more Beer Bottle Shirt they sell, the more plastic beer bottles will be recycled. It’s a win-win situation for the company, the consumers and the environment in general. The company can earn something out of it, while consumers can wear something that’s minimalist and stylish and get to reduce the number of plastics going to landfills, or worst, get swept into the ocean.

In case you think trash getting into ocean is no big deal and will “disappear” in no time, well, actually they do disappear, but likely to be swallowed by marine animals that may end up on the our table as food. And so yeah, we pretty much eating the plastic, and any associated toxins that come with it, thanks to our frivolous use of plastic and irresponsible handling of trash. That’s not to say beer lovers are solely responsible for this alarming environment threat; but being a country packed with beer enthusiasts and concerts where beer in plastic bottles are consumed, it makes perfect sense to act on this segment. Besides, it will alleviate the guilt of concert-going, beer-gulping folks the next time they take a sip.
